Blogger Templates

Not long after beginning this blog, I wanted to graduate from the standard free blogger template. Learning HTML just didn't seem to be "my thing" but as I started researching more about photography on-line, I learned enough to take a standard free blogger template and change the background and add my own customer header. I originally thought I'd update it monthly but I soon realized that was just WAY too much work.

Recently, I've noticed several bloggers using backgrounds from here. Since there aren't a lot of free resources out there (to say nothing of the lack of cute, free stuff), so I wanted to share a quick link:

Lena has lots of really cute, free blogger templates. If I weren't so attached to mine, I'd give her a try.

Just wanted to pass this along....

Perspectives of Time...from WB

On the way home from Thanksgiving last night:

"Mom, all the best things in life happen when you are 16, 17, or 18."

"Really? Who told you that?"

"They just do..."

"OK, what are the best things in life"

"You know...getting a car....getting married...getting a house."

"Really? What age does this stuff happen?"

"Well, you get a car at 16. You get married and get a house at 17 or 18 so that you can have a baby."

****Clearly, I've spent a lot of time worrying about nothing. Worrying that, as an older parent, I might miss events in the lives of my children when they are adults. It seems now I might be better served to simply daydream about how I'll spend his college fund since he apparently won't need it to complete his "fast-track" life.(Oh, and Dianna, you might want to reconsider that idea of getting our kids together as prom dates..;o)***

And then, in the same car ride...not 5 minutes later...he continues to enlighten us with his life plan. I ask why everything seems to be happening rather quickly, he explains:

"You know, because your childhood "officially" ends at 35."

***So, at 44, does that make me a 9-year old adult? Suddenly, I'm feeling young for the first time in a very long time.***

*****************

I hope your day was as wonderful as ours: great food, great wine, and even greater friends. We are blessed indeed!

I'm thankful for my kids who brighten my life beyond measure. I'm thankful for a supportive partner and the adventurous 22-year journey we've shared. And, I'm thankful for friends that are "far better than I deserve."

I hope that, like us, you had a great meal and were surrounded by those that you love. What a great day!

And to our most faithful reader...we hope the doctor got some medicine in you and that your back is feeling better! We love you Papa Bob! Get well soon! (Miss Val...the man obviously needs some Potato Bacon Chowder!)

If You Can Train A Dog, Can You Train A Sister?

I'm taking a little flack for failing to keep my blog updated. (My small readership is apparently much more faithful than I give them credit for.) It's funny though, once you get out of the blogging habit, it is hard to get back into it. Reading blogs...that's the easy part. But, I'll try to do a little better...

What's new with the Booths? Well, our little man turned 9 (NINE!) on Friday...where does the time go? And, little sister turned 15 months on Saturday...again, where does the time go?

WB lost the privilege of having a birthday party for skipping school. Yeah, that's right...skipping...and he's NINE...technically EIGHT on that day! See, WB hates the mandatory Friday morning assemblies and decided to just hide on the playground rather than go in when the bell rang. School starts at 8:45...they "found" him at 9:15! And, in his mind, this made sense! Scary, I know!

Little sister continues to amaze us with how tough she is. She currently has about 4 bruises on her face from various falls and bumps, and she almost never sheds a tear for anything like that. But, take something away from her or don't let her have her way and all heck will break loose! She goes to the doctor on Wednesday and we are hoping that she tops 17 lbs. I'm also hoping that we can get off formula and turn the car seats around. I know that her language is a little behind, but she seems to be very bright and follows directions (when she wants to) so I'm not worried.

If her brother has anything to do with it, she'll be catching up soon. He seems to think that, like his dog, his little sister is trainable. Just this morning I caught him working with her:

"Sissy...Sit...Sit....SISSY SIT!"

"Sissy...Rollover....come on Sissy...ROLLOVER!"

Not exactly the type of skills she needs to be mastering, but it gave me a good laugh this morning. Let's just hope he has better luck with her than he does with that damn dog!

The Right Place

We went to the park this morning for our first attempt at Christmas card pictures. Clearly, between my children's general lack of interest and my inability to get the correct exposure, we'll have several more session before we find "the one."

After the park, we spent the day with our BFFs. We had a great (full) day...JB and I laying around, sister running around, and WB running the neighborhood.

Both kids fell asleep in the back seat on the way home. I turned around to check on them and then scrambled to get my camera.

My kids. They love each other but they can't take a picture together to save their lives....unless...they are asleep.
