Pearly Whites, or Yellows...

Check out the chompers on these boys! My sister and I suffered through braces, so I guess it's a fairly safe bet that our boys will do the same.

Cousins O-Bo and P-Park came to spend the night for a little birthday celebration for WB. (Yes, I CAN bake a cake, the boy wanted an ice cream cake!!) I can't believe he's eight! Where does the time go?

I love you little crooked-tooth boy!

Five days post-op and I'm just now starting to believe that maybe I won't miss that old gall bladder after all. I must admit, I underestimated the impact the surgery would have on my life. I was totally thinking I'd be back at work in two days. Needless to say, I didn't make that, but I am starting to feel more like my old self.

OH...one last tidbit...we're on Step 7....we're less than two months from travel. (By my calculations anyway!!) WooHoo!!!!!

This Little Girl

Again...can we tell you how much we love this little girl?

Today someone asked me, or rather, said, "If something happened and "this" fell through, you'd be OK wouldn't you? I mean, would it be like a miscarriage?"

I was shocked, dumbfounded really. Don't get me wrong. I've lost a baby before and I will never minimize what that means. I cried. I cried hard. I cried over losing what could have been, a boy, a girl, a part of us. Losing what was to be, for me, is much different than losing what IS. DoriGrace IS...she has a name...she has a face...she has a future and it is with us.

How can you explain that? You just can't. My response to my friend, "Oh, I'd be absolutely broken. It is frankly something I can't even fathom." The look of confusion really startled me. Some folks just don't get it...they don't. That is just the way it is and I get frustrated that I can't (and yet still try to) explain. This is our daughter...we were meant to be.

And when we are all together, I hope people see us and learn. Learn that "family" is border-less and boundless; it isn't just blood, it's what we build--what we make. And we plan on making a difference...in some small way...the Booths...all FOUR of us...and I'm already proud of that.

By the way, did I tell you how much we love this little girl?

Thanks Steve and Christi for snapping an updated photo for us! Wishing you safe travels for your trip back home as a new family.

I Would Die For That...

I'm not much for embedding video. I figure most have heard this song, but I just discovered the video. It keeps replaying in my head tonight.

I am so blessed and thankful for our little boy, and so anxious and ready for our baby girl...

If I can fool my own mother....

My mother...

Her computer is down so my sister had to take one of DoriGrace's new pictures over to her. When I talked to her a couple of days later, she says, "Oh, I got the picture. She's just beautiful." I thank her for her kind comments and then she says, "Have you gotten out your baby pictures? I can't get over her facial expresssion." Duh??...what??

Yes folks, it is true. My own mother wants me to dig out my baby pictures because she thinks my soon-to-be-adopted baby, on the other side of the world in Vietnam, looks like ME!! What the ???? OH, the humanity! If I weren't driving down the road, I'd have fallen right off my chair laughing.

This brings to light an interesting opportunity. I had a hair appointment this morning. I color once a month and I've got at least two more appointments before I travel. I figure I can go one shade darker at each appointment. So, I started today. People, by the time I travel, I'll be down-right dark headed.

So the questions becomes...if my own mother thinks we look alike...do you think people will be able to tell that she's adopted???

Oct/Nov Update

Baby Girl is now rockin' the scales to 8.46 lbs and she is 21 inches long. Don't have an exact date as to when those measurements were taken, but it looks like at two months she has almost reached WB's birth size.

She looks a LOT bigger than that in her pictures though. (Doesn't the camera ALWAYS add a few lbs. to a girl?)

Our I-600 has been received in Vietnam....and now we wait...some more.....
